Modifying Surface ID's

Modifying Surface ID's

Modifying Surface ID's

(OP)
Is it possible to change the ID of a surface once it's modeled? We work with parts which cannot be created in part family's and I constantly struggle with the associativity of these surfaces.

The parts all have the same freeform surfaces but with other dimensional properties, so each time I want to use CAM for milling on these surfaces I end up reselecting them.

I was looking for something similar like the mapping function when you change a curve that belongs to a extrusion. This brings up a dialog to select identical entities.

Thanks in advance

RE: Modifying Surface ID's

Have you tried just assigning a common user-defined 'Name' to the surface/face of interest?

This can be done by selecting the surface/face, press MB3, select 'Properties' and under the 'General' tab, enter a consistent 'Name'.  Now use select by 'Name' schemes.

Hello John,

This doesn't seem to work in my case.
When I tried to give the surfaces in question a name, NX still reported an error.
The error says that the object contains suppressed geometry and asks if I want to remove this suppressed geometry.

I would like to see that the geometry is kept intact when I load another (similar) part with the 'Replace component' option.

At this moment I have to select the surfaces again so that it can be generated in CAM.
