Material stiffness of PCB

Material stiffness of PCB

Material stiffness of PCB

(OP)
What is the Youngs modulus of a PCB. I have always assumed the the PCB is made from several layers 0/90 oriented layers of Continious Glass Fibre Plastic, and that no layers are oriented in 45 deg or any other directions. I need this to verify natural frequency of the PCB.

Thanks in advance

"I have always assumed the the PCB is made from several layers 0/90 oriented layers of Continious Glass Fibre Plastic, and that no layers are oriented in 45 deg or any other directions." What a strange statement! Surely you mean you have used a PolyChlorinatedBisphenol in said composite. You are going the need the exact formulation of that PCB.

RE: Material stiffness of PCB

Steinberg is a good reference
(vibration analysis of electronic equipment)

I use a value of about 3E10 Pa
Caution: the resonant frequency is strongly dependant on the constraints, e.g. sliding vs fix edges

RE: Material stiffness of PCB

Won't the PCB be fastened with screws or another way so that the natural frequency of the free material will become irrelevant?

Yes, sorry PCB=Printed Circuit Board. This is a dymnamics problem more than material, so may be I am in the wrong forum.

What I am really asking is: Does the PCB have twisting stiffness of any significance?

RE: Material stiffness of PCB

Yes, PCBs are very stiff.

Definitely wrong forum- You want electronics
