The "Known" expression

The "Known" expression

The "Known" expression

(OP)
This is a question for "John the Evangelist". Pro/E has a function that I would find very useful almost daily. The feature is the "known" variable. This is very like a reference dimension in UG except that there is a variable name associated with it, so one can reference it elsewhere. I know there is the "measure" feature, but I am a bit gun shy after having that function cause some serious mayhem in a series of parts. Programing wise this seems like a very simple request. Do you know if there is any chance of something like this getting implemented, or if there is some reason that it is too difficult? It is a feature that would exist only in a sketch.

RE: The "Known" expression

If you have problems with 'Measure' function, please take that up with GTAC.  I say that because the 'Measure' function, using the 'Associative' option, IS our equivalent to what you're looking for.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

How is it used in a sketch? I am currently using NX5.

RE: The "Known" expression

You can't include a 'feature' (such as a 'Measurement') inside a sketch.  However, once a sketch has been created, you can assign a Measurement feature to the curve(s) which are part of the sketch.

Thanks. i still find something more elegant about the "known variable.

There appears to be no angle option in measure.

RE: The "Known" expression

'Measure Angle' has it's own dedicated function (second menu item, immediately below 'Measure Distance', on the Analysis pull-down menu).
