minimum distance between 2 footings = 0 ?

minimum distance between 2 footings = 0 ?

minimum distance between 2 footings = 0 ?

(OP)
if i have 2 equipment and the footings of these two are right next to each other (footing is not monolithic) is there a minimum distance between the 2?

i cannot combine the footings.

but i worry about foundation rotation.

RE: minimum distance between 2 footings = 0 ?

Over the course of 40+ years of concrete construction, I have seen many instances of spread footing abutting spread footings with only a "paper" joint between them.

From my perspective as an engineer, I would feel comfortable with this as long as their respective soil bearing pressures were similar along the abutting edges.  You might consider requiring a 1/2" joint filler or polystyrene between them to permit either to rotate slightly with respect to the other.

What is the footing size, load and soil bearing capacity.

RE: minimum distance between 2 footings = 0 ?

I agree with RHTPE.  Don't see a problem.

They should be the same depth to avoid one foundation loading the other.
