MRP pipe

MRP pipe

MRP pipe

(OP)
Is there anybody who knows about MRP (metal reinforced corrugated pipe)? The pipe is like double wall HDPE corrugated pipe but there is a metal layer inside the pipe.

ASTM code : ASTM F2435 - 05

I want to know about your experience and views (positive or negative) and  the advantages of these pipes with respect to DWC (double wall corrugated) pipe.

Thanks...

RE: MRP pipe

I have used large SRPE Steel reinforced polyethylene pipe on a project recently. The product used was not double wall, it was single wall, smooth not corrugated on the inside. Steel ribs on the outside.

pros
- thin pipe wall allows larger pipes to be used in narrow areas
- gasket provides relatively good seal
- smooth interior
- lower installation cost
cons
-pipe deflection when backfilling
-must hold down the pipe while backfilling or it moves
-difficult to make connections without manhole or encasement
