How to perform boolean operation

How to perform boolean operation

How to perform boolean operation

(OP)
Hi,

I have two parts(3D) a cube and a cylinder. The cylinder is inside the cube. Some part of the cylinder comes out of the cube. I want to get rid of the part of cylinder coming out of the cube. The two parts represents composite and should be merged together. If I merge and then take off the part of cylinder coming out of the cube and then suppress the feature and then again resume it in assembly I get the original assembly with the cylinder still coming out of the cube. How do I get rid of the part of cylinder coming out of cube forever?

Thank you.

RE: How to perform boolean operation

Merge the bodies together retaining boundaries.  Section the  cylinder with the face it is extending from.  Now hide the new body and don't mesh it. I hope this helps.

@rstupplebeen than you very much for the comment. I would like to know how do I section the cylinder, are you referring to partition? Is there any particular method to do so?

Thank you.

RE: How to perform boolean operation

Can you post your model?  I will try to show you.  What version are your using?  Thanks.
