v18 issues with cgm export and Section associativity

v18 issues with cgm export and Section associativity

v18 issues with cgm export and Section associativity

(OP)
I'm having problems setting up a PC w/ v18.0.5 (just switching over from a Unix system of v16). Two issues:

1. I can't get it to export cgm files.

2. There is an "Associative" toggle in the Section Curve command that was not there before (in v16).  The toggle is "on" and I want it "off". Regardless of turning it off with each sectioning, it is toggled back on the next time the Section command is brought up.  Very annoying and time consuming. How do you turn it off and keep it off (at least for the duration of the session).

RE: v18 issues with cgm export and Section associativity

You're not serious, are you?  Unigraphics V18.0!!!!  That software is over 9 years old, which would make it a virtual antique.  How did you even get a license to run it let alone the software?  If you got it from us, weren't you asked why you were attempting to install and use a software package that has been totally unsupported for at least 3 or 4 years now?

But back to your questions, as to your first issue, God only knows why you're having problems.  And you'll probably have to call him for help since I suspect that no one at GTAC will want to look into something this out-of-date.

As for your second issue; yes, we've already addressed this so that now if you were to toggle that option OFF it would remain OFF until you toggled it back ON.  However, to get this behavior you're going to have to install at least NX 5.0, or better yet, NX 7.5.  What you have now can't be changed, period.

Sorry for the sarcasm but you have to look at this from our point of view.  There is no practical way to support software products this old and in your case, installing something a bit more up-to-date will probably be your best move, from several points of view winky smile

Good question - We had a customer that never migrated above v16 so we did not either in order to avoid backward compatibility issues. We have seven licenses of UG but have scaled way back such that I'm the only one using it now. I'm just supporting our in house design/products and am comfortable with v16/v18 (new is not always better, i.e. it took you five versions of NX to fix the Associativity issue... back at ya'). I tried to get GTAC support, etc. but they told me the same thing you did.

I drive a twenty year old Ford I paid $3K for, it runs fine and I still get parts and support without having to go to a blog site - Why is it so ludicrous to expect support for $120K worth of software licenses I bought that are 9 years old?

Well for one thing, paying maintenance on a car won't get you annual updates and enhancements winky smile

BTW, I'm driving a 10 year old car which replaced a 16 year old one, so I know what it means to extract as much value as possible out of something.

Can't argue with that logic....Or can I?  For the cost of two years of maintenance on those seven licences I could have dumped that '91 model I'm driving now and bought a brand new F250 4WD pick up. And I'll bet that new truck does not have a new "feature" that I have to wait five years for Ford to fix so I can trade in and buy the "upgraded" model;)
