Telecom Room used as storage room?

Telecom Room used as storage room?

Telecom Room used as storage room?

(OP)
Is there a code (NEC, NFPA, BICSI, TIA or EIA) that dictates that a Telecom room in a commercial building can not be used to store supplies (paper, paper towels, computer monitors, etc)?

RE: Telecom Room used as storage room?

If you don't find a suitable reference, then check with the insurance company's inspectors. They don't allow ANYTHING.

RE: Telecom Room used as storage room?

The only refernce I could find is the NEC requirtements for not having anything stored in front of power panels.

RE: Telecom Room used as storage room?

It is a VERY frustrating when trying to maintain a telco room/closet when someone else sees it as unused floor space for their "important stuff".

I would be very interested to see if someone comes up with something so I can kick some folks out of my telco rooms.

RE: Telecom Room used as storage room?

Try posting this question in the "IEEE (electrical) Code Issues" and "NFPA (fire) Code Issues" forums in the Engineering Codes, Standards & Certifications section.

They may have a better idea of any codes concerning this issue.
