SolidWorks 2011 file conversions...

SolidWorks 2011 file conversions...

SolidWorks 2011 file conversions...

(OP)
Does SolidWorks 2011 still require a file conversion when loading the file? Do users still have to convert there assemblies prior to using them? or have they changed to do the conversion when the file is saved?

RE: SolidWorks 2011 file conversions...

File conversion hasn't been a necessity in the past four or five versions of SW that I have dealt with. It is recommended because the software will (in theory) load the models faster and be more stable if the files are converted. That being said, I believe 2011 is still expecting file conversions like every version before it.

Every version I have worked with, I just open the older file then click save. No extra conversion necessary.
