Cavity Radiation

Cavity Radiation

Cavity Radiation

(OP)
Hello Abaqus users,
I have to do some "first principal" radiation Simulations with Abaqus on a satellite. I already included radiation from space to the space-craft and radiation to the ambient.

What is more important is thermal radiation inside the space-craft.

My first try would be to do it with "cavity-radiation" feature of Abaqus. I am not used to work with input files, therefore I would prefer to use the "normal" workspace of Abaqus.

The problem: I cannot find any tutorials or explanations on how to implement cavity radiation. All I find are links to the user manual, which do not show anything.

Could you help me with a useful link or perhaps a first description how to set up my step for cavity radiation? In the interaction I cannot choose "surface-radiation". All is surface-surfe or surface ambient...

Thank you a lot

Christian

RE: Cavity Radiation

In the interaction module there is cavity radiation. Beforehand, though, it's wise to create and name some surfaces to use in the definition. You also need to specify Stefan Bolzmann's number etc., in the Model/Model attributes menu.

RE: Cavity Radiation

The help document for 6.9-1 has an example that uses cavity radiation (at least according to it's description).

It's called: 1.6.8 Radiation analysis of a plane finned surface.

Thanks a lot for your first steps. I just realized that at our institut there is 6.5 Version installed. Since which version exists this possibility under Interactions?

thanks again

RE: Cavity Radiation

Cavity radiation was probably used in the interaction module of 6.8, but definitely 6.9. If you haven't got it then define surface to surface contact and edit the .inp file manually, using the defined surfaces in the contact definition, and change it to cavity radiation.

Hey!
We have some problems on our Abaqus Version and have to use 6.8 (we'll install tomorrow). I am a little bit afraid of not finding the interaction. Has anybody a little example file, where he Used AbaqusCAE to define a cavity definition. Just for me to look, if it is included in Abaqus 6.8.
Perhaps anybody can make a file with a cavity interactin included, it does not have to work or make any sensesmile

Would really help. Thanks a lot for that

ok, thanks for your help. I solved the cavity problem, it was a version of Abaqus problem. In 6.8 you can use CAE to include cavity radiation.

Thanks a lot!
