Shear Studs in Composite Construction
Shear Studs in Composite Construction
(OP)
I've looked far and wide throughout the AISC 6th edition, but haven't had any luck. Does anyone know what ASTM specification shear studs for composite construction conformed to in the early 1960's, when composite construction became published by AISC? In particular, I'm looking for the ultimate strength of the stud so that I can use the latest AISC methodology to calculate capacities. I know the current standards use ASTM A108, with an ultimate of 65 ksi - was this specification around at that time? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

RE: Shear Studs in Composite Construction
Minimum Tensile...............60 ksi
Minimum Yield.................50 ksi (0.2% offset)
Minimum Elongation ...........20% in 2"
So, to go further back, you might try contacting the Nelson Stud Company, then listed as the Nelson Division of TRW.
