Creating finite elements individually in CAE

Creating finite elements individually in CAE

Creating finite elements individually in CAE

Is it possible to create each individual finite element in Abaqus CAE the way you do in other FEM programs (ie, by selecting the element type and then selecting the nodes that define its geometry)?
I know its possible to do it in INP files, by defining the nodes and then creating the elements, but I need to do it directly on CAE.

RE: Creating finite elements individually in CAE

As an workaround, you can import the .inp file in /CAE. It will create an orphan mesh part defined in terms of elements and nodes.

But I can only import the .inp file as a job, and therefore it can't be edited, I can only submit it and view the results.
Or there's a way to import a .inp file as a model?

I've found it, thanks for the help.
If anyone is wondering, its just File -> Import -> Model... and then you must specify the type of file as Abaqus Input File (*.inp).
