Flexible piping on API 610 centrifugal pumps

Flexible piping on API 610 centrifugal pumps

Flexible piping on API 610 centrifugal pumps

(OP)
Hi all,
i'm an italian engineer working in a company that builds API 610 centrifugal pumps (oil & Gas).
We were wondering if exist any kind of flexible piping taht meets API requirements. Does anyone know something about that?
Thank you!

Federico

Short section of metal bellows with tie bolts? How flexible and for what distance?

Hi 1gibson and thank you for your reply.
I need only short section of flexible piping, only for coupling longer sections of seamless tube. The only thing i don't know is if there are short sections of metal bellows that are allowed by API 610! Thank you.

RE: Flexible piping on API 610 centrifugal pumps

API 610 is a pump specification. It only tells you the allowable load at the pump to piping flange interface.

You must have a capable person evalutate the nozzle loadings on the pump from the piping arrangement.

There is no magic item that automatically limits the piping reaction to the API 610 allowables. This must be evaluated by a competant engineer.

If you correctly design a system with a bellows it can significantly reduce nozzle reations. They can also complately destroy piping system and rotating equipment if used improperly.

Just my two cents worth.

A question properly stated is a problem half solved.

Always remember, free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it!

You're right ColonelSanders83, it was my fault... I've not specified that when i say "piping" i'm speaking about the tubes referring to vent and drain, or auxiliary cooling system for the pump.
For these system, building the piping, we are driven by API 682. API 682 states that you must use seamless pipe (according to ASTM A 53 if made of carbon steel, according to ASTM A 312 if made of stainless steel).
So, my question is: does anyone know if there are some flexible pipe that satisfy these requirements?
Thank you.
