What is next?

(OP)
Hi all,

I recently joined a company as a technical support/assistant where I have to recommend pumps(mostly Centrifugal pumps) for various applications. So far am doing ok considering the fact that my background is Chemical Eng. I believe there is still more to learn and many areas for self-improvement.

So I searched for courses that I can take but didnt find much online-of course there are lots of courses out there but what am looking for is something short, maybe a certificate or two, waste water treatment,or pumping related applications and/or any other.

Can you guys suggest anything...
Since I am new at this forum, I apologize if i am asking the wrong questions.

Thanks in advance:
Issa

RE: What is next?

http://www.pumpsystemsmatter.org/content_detail.aspx?id=110 is a downloadable software for modelling your systems. it is limited to the number of nodes. If you want the Daddy of this product go to www.aft.com/fathom but of course you will have to invest.

The website also offers other educational matters.

http://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4SUNC_enAU394AU394&q=pump+zone could also be of interest.

I would try and get hold of the Sulzer pump design handbook for some sound engineering.

RE: What is next?

You might want to monitor the PEICE class offerings. From time to time they offer the "Introduction to Pumps - Design, Application and Operation" class. I attended this two day course and was very happy with it. I had 5+ years experience in the pumps world, but it filled in a lot of gaps in my learning and left me with a better understanding of the many types of pumps and where each is used.

I also have attended pump courses that were taught by manufactures.  The manufactures didn't offer certificates like I recieved from the PEICE course, and limited their class to the pump types that they make but were classes were free and just as valuable in my learning.
