Battery Sizing

Battery Sizing

Battery Sizing

(OP)
As per IEEE STD 485, K factor are to be taken from the cell performance curves. As per attached image please advise if value of k be less than 1 for loads of duration less than 1 min (like for 20 sec loads).

I have worked out some battery calculations for a substation and if I take 1 minute curve and k=1 it is giving me battery sizing of around 680AH but if I reduce K to 0.4 (say for less than 1 min load)it is giving me 380AH only. By seeing it if K is anything less than 1 it will be a saving.

I do not have any curve for less than one minute that is why I want to take K<1 keeping in mind that curve will go further down.
