snap to line ends in sketcher

snap to line ends in sketcher

snap to line ends in sketcher

(OP)
In my sketcher if I create a line, then try to create a curve tangent to it using the arc with tangent ends tool, the arc will not snap to the end of the line that is already there.  I currently have to place an arbitrary arc then use both the coincident constraint and the tangent constraint in order to attach it to the line.

I have had this issue for years now, but only on one of my computers.  An install on a second computer behaves as I would like, with the arc tool (or other sketcher tools) able to snap to the end of already created geometry.  I have compared my config files and don't notice any differences that would cause this to happen.

Does anyone know where this setting is berried?  It is probably right under my nose somewhere.  Oh and I do have all the constraints currently enable in the sketcher options menu, and that does not help.

Thanks,
-AAFuni

Rather than just compare the config.pro file, copy it to the other machine.
Do you have multiple config.pro files?

I have quite a number of settings that I want to be different between the two machines (directory paths for instance) so that would not work.

Make sure you have the Coincident and Tangent Constraints checked off. Also you can search sketcher or constraints in Tools Options with Find button there was a time when the end of the config options had _skamps such as sketcher_collinear_skamps they were oficially changed to end in _constr for Constraints

I posted a PDF of the options for WF5 and differences from WF4 in another post when I find it I'll link to it here.

Michael,
Thanks for the effort, but I already had all those enabled.  I think the issue might not be a settings issue but some odd glitch on the one computer as it now seems to intermittently behave properly.  When it does allow snapping, I have to get the mouse within about 3 pixels of the point for it to highlight the constraint.

My work computers seem to have all sorts of unheard of issues with both Pro/E and CadKey, so I guess I will just attribute it to the ghost in my machine.

If you find that link I still wouldn't mind looking at that post.

Thanks,
-AAFuni

RE: snap to line ends in sketcher

What graphics cards do the machines have?
It could be a display resolution issue.

The one with problems is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 5800 set at 1920*1080.  It has current drivers, and to the best of my knowledge it is a "supported" Pro/E video card. I am quite sure it is not the problem.
