Hi,
I'm an Ansys novice and I'm working on someone else'input deck. I've come accross the following area selection code:
ASEL,S,LOC,X,0,9.5,
What does this actually mean? Ansys Help says the Loc command selects a 'hot spot'. What exactly is a hot spot? Is teh hot spot a point on the area?
Cheers,
PK

RE: selection
When you say x plane is that xy plane or xz plane? And also is that according to teh work plane or the coordinate system?
The only reason I ask is that the command seems to select an area which does not lie at x=9.5 in the coordinate system I have used. I checked this by listing keypoints on the area and checking coordinates. Not sure if the fact cyclindrical coordinates changes things either...
Could you shed some more light? Thanks
RE: selection
Look up the ASEL command in the help, the answers are there if you can be bothered to look. It will shed all the light you need, read it....
RE: selection
Area selection of which the location of the X coordinate is between 0 and 9.5.
