This is a question regarding overboard lines from pumped seawater systems.  I am aware of the gravity flow equations that should be followed;  Froude number, Norsok P-001 etc for "dump caissons".  Well, I have discovered a line that has not been designed that way!  It has a froude number much higher than that, and has no vent  siphon break.
This is a pumped system, the particular line is a minimum flow line, i expect it to be liquid filled (but with no orifice or control valve to ensure this).  The drop to sea level is approx 5m.

So the question is:

What are the conditions I am likely to experience and why (I am trying to understand the physics of the surging and vibration I expect to see)

Thanks
