1/4 Turn Fastener Thru Nomex
1/4 Turn Fastener Thru Nomex
(OP)
Has anybody had any experience specifying a captive 1/4 turn fastener common to a piece of Nomex cloth? I am looking for a combination of stud, receptacle, and retainer which is known to work in a piece of cloth.
The intent of the design is to provide some means of mechanical fastening beyond the exclusive use of velcro for a protective cloth cover.

Can you embed some sort of stiffener along the edge of your Nomex cloth? 1/4-turn fasteners have to be captivated somehow. If they are attached through a piece of stiff plastic or aluminium sheet, anything should work.

Just make sure it's the metal kind, not Wallace's dog.

Engineering is the art of modelling materials we do not wholly understand, into shapes we cannot precisely analyse so as to withstand forces we cannot properly assess, in such a way that the public has no reason to suspect the extent of our ignorance.

I should clarify my initial statement a bit. The receptacle for the cloth will be attached to a carbon cover. The Nomex cloth is meant to cover an access hole in the carbon panel. I was planning on using a brass grommet in the Nomex cloth to provide pull out resistance to the 1/4 fastener.
Thanks again for the rapid response and excellent suggestions!
