hydraulic pump and servo valves

(OP)
I'm currently building a 2 axis hydraulic ram powered tube swedging machine and I have purchased a used hydraulic power unit for 100 bucks with a 25 hp motor and pump.  need to replace the pump it is junk and I plan is to run several machines with this hydraulic power pack but for now it will only be one machine.  Trying to find the right pump, i like the bosch whisper vane and the parker pv series(axial piston pump), both of which have variable displacement.  I'm wondering which one in this case is a better match for my application, duty cycle will be fairly light and I am worried about overheating the oil.  It is also a servo valve application so i want to make sure that things stay very clean.

I've heard it is bad to use flexible lines for this type of application but I have to for one of the axis' and it would make like a lot easier for some of the other parts of the machine, I would like to hear thoughts/experiences?

The company i work for has a tube bender with 2 servo valves and it has flexible lines all over it.  Probably the biggest pain in engineering is comprimising and knowing when you can get away with it:)

thanks,
aj

RE: hydraulic pump and servo valves

Pressures?
Flows?
Why are you worried about overheating?
Operating environment?
What have you heard about flexible lines being bad for this application?  Design by hearsay?
What is a typical machine cycle?  Time and functions?

Ted
