Book on Bearing heat generation/ cooling (thermal mgmt) (AC engines)
(OP)
Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a book that has developed a good summary of modeling for lubrication, cooling rather, for Aircraft engine bearings ?.. I've been trying to find a book which brings all of the principles (heat transfer, fluid mechanics, lubrication(tribology)) into one summary, but I haven't had much luck. I assumed that there had to be an industry standard, but I haven't come across it. I have "Engineering Tribology" by Williams, which is good, but I was looking for more.
Any ideas would be helpfull. Thank You.

I cannot recommend any book, unfortunately. You could be selecting the bearings off the shelf or the bearings may be designed specifically for your engine, but either way, can't you involve the bearing manufacturer? Depending on your conditions, the bearing manufacturer could define the cooling requirements with which you could design your oil system... Just a thought.

I couldn't agree with you more about including the bearing manufacturer, not only for the reason stated above, also for the "inherent" knowledge the manufacturer brings. My question was posed more about developing knowledge in that area, rather than trying to do their job (expertise) !
