Grounding Transformer Neutral Resistor.

Grounding Transformer Neutral Resistor.

Grounding Transformer Neutral Resistor.

A 11 kV  generator with neutral grounding resistor ( limiting fault current to 200 A) is feeding to a generator step up transformer. There are 11 Kv loads fed from 11 Kv bus through cables. When there is no generation,to get a neutral point grounding transformer is planned on 11 Kv bus to get grounding point.Grounding transformer zero sequence impedance is adequate to limit the fault current to 200 A.Should we earth the grounding transformer neutral through a resistor or not?One view is that to limit the transient overvoltages consequent to arc faults the resistor is required. What is the latest practice? What should be the value of resistor ?

RE: Grounding Transformer Neutral Resistor.

Use one resistor and tie the generator and transformer neutrals together.

Thank you Davidbeach .That  is a good idea.My question is whether resistor is required to suppress the transients.

RE: Grounding Transformer Neutral Resistor.

Main purpose is to limit the ground fault current and the damage caused.
