Can anyone advise me how to copy the parameters file out to an external spread sheet.

Inventor seems to expect you to create the spread sheet prior to making the component whereas I would like to accept the existing parameters file with the ability to alter a few of the measurements.

I am a die-hard MDT trying my best to get to grips with inventor.

Many thank,

RE: copy the parameters file out to an external spread sheet.

Since you didn't state which version of Inventor you are using I will give you the steps for Inventor 2011.
On the ribbon go to the manage tab. Expand the flyout under the Parameters icon. Select "export to xml".
Then import into excel.

Or you can write iLogic rules to use your Excel spreadsheet as a Form of UI for design.

Dear mcgyvr,

I was running Inventor 2009 to go along with the latest version of MDT 2009. However, I do have Inventor 2011 and cannot believe just how easy the export route was.

Presumably any mods I make to the xml file if imported back into my drawing will drive the model?

Thank you so much, this simple advice has saved me possibly a day of work.
