Stress Analysis
Stress Analysis
(OP)
Hi,
Can anyone help?
1. For stress analysing flare lines do we need to take care (input) the piping slope while modelling in caesar?
2. Is it possible to input the Autocad dwg file in to caesar directly?
3. Can caesar out put check the pipe thickness for it's sufficiency?
Thanks

RE: Stress Analysis
2. Not sure, but don't think this is possible.
3. Yes, according to the Code you define.
RE: Stress Analysis
Input from plain Autocad - no.
Input from a 3rd party "3D Piping CAD Package" that sits on top of Autocad - maybe, it depends on which Piping Package. If you're looking to acquire something like this, checkout CADWorx, the bi-directional link with CAESAR II is seamless.

RE: Stress Analysis
1. If we have a branch piping of 2" & below in the main line of 4" can we ignore the 2" line? what about 3" piping?
2. Do we need to model a weldolet (branch) with a blind flange ?

So you want to ignore some of the piping. Well why go the whole hog and ignore all of the piping from an analysis point. Remember the more you ignore the less accurate the system model is. A 2"nb branch on a 3"nb pipe - by ignoring the 2"nb pipe you are not fully checking the 3"nb line since you are not including the local loadings at the branch from the 2"nb pipe. So how comfortable are you that the 2"nb pipe has no or little effect on the 3"nb pipe. As Kriegfix says if you have to ask for a judgement here then you are not able to assess this for yourself and until you can then "model everything".
