Vent condenser Calculation

Vent condenser Calculation

Vent condenser Calculation

(OP)
Hello everyone, I'm involving a project in which I have to calculate a vent condenser for a Fuel Ethanol storage tank which condenses the Ethanol vapor from the tank (the tank is fixed roof type). The problem is I don't know how to determine the temperature of the Ethanol vapor when it comes into the condenser. I'm in detail design stage. From the documents of Feasibility Study stage, I obtain a value of 40 oC, but I don't think it's correct. Btw, the environment temperature is from 14-38 oC. Could anybody tell me how to solve this problem?

Thank you very much.

RE: Vent condenser Calculation

you do not clarify the purpose, I presume it is an atmospheric vent condenser on a tank to condense ethanol emissions... (note that it would be much better to use a presurized tank...) however supposing you know the temperature of ethanol (possibly some degrees below ambient temperature), assume the same for the vapor, vapor flow rate will depend from rate of fluid saturation pressure / storage tank top pressure, the max flow rate (and condenser duty) at max ambient temperature (38) 40 degrees Celsius, is that ?
