Component on layer

Component on layer

Component on layer

(OP)
When I add a component in the assembly, I can decide which layer put it (original or other).
I can after move a component on layer 3 (for example) and hide the layer 3.
If I want to reposition on original layer and I don't remember which component is, how can I do ?

Thank you...

Using NX7.0 and TC8.1

RE: Component on layer

Use layer categories and name your layers.

RE: Component on layer

In the "add component" menu expand "settings", and I think you will find what you are looking for.

RE: Component on layer

also, if you forget what layer it is on, go into the ANT, rmc (right mouse click) on the component > Properties >assembly tab

RE: Component on layer

If you are not careful, from my experience, you will not move the component but the solids inside the component. You will then see 20 instances of "something" on a layer and not be able see what they are. You can get a report, and it will tell you that the layer is populated with components.

RE: Component on layer

All components in NX come into an as2sembly as 2 entities, the solid and the 'grouping' component. When moving any component in NX, always select the component, which is actually just the solid, and then go up one level to get the component grouping entity. This means that you have to use the menu to select components and not just screen pick.

Now I understand.
Thank you to all.
The problem is when I open an assembly made from others.
I don't like to use layer or reference set and someone at work abuse of anything.
I prefer use 'Original' layer and 'Model' reference set.

When I open the 'Layer setting' command and on layer 41 there are 24 entities, I would like to know which component are on layer 41.
To know which are, I need to expand the entire assembly and check with 'Layer' column on the ANT ?

Thank you...
