Automate cross sectional area calculation in PRO E

Automate cross sectional area calculation in PRO E

(OP)
thread554-174634: Measure of cross sectional area along a line (ProE wildfire 3.0.)

Hello all,

I am trying to find a way to get PRO Engineer to automatically calculate cross sectional areas for a large amount of datum planes and output the area (and only the area) at each plane into some kind of readable text format. I am looking for a way that does not require me to go through the analysis x-section mass properties route and then click on every plane manually.

As some of you might have guessed, I am working on optimizing the gradient of the cross sectional area for area rule reasons with supersonic flight.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Automate cross sectional area calculation in PRO E

Just select the plane you want the cross section for, then create a new mapkey.  The mapkey should run the analysis x-section mass properties for you, and you can have it automatically save the results in data file automatically.  That way you will need to run it for each plane, but it is just selecting a plane and hitting one key.

If you want to get fancy, you could write an optimization function in Excel and create a trail file/ pro program launched from excel to varry the parameter and recalculate the area, and spit it back into Excel.
