I have to modify the nx502_Threaded_Hole_Standard file
and add /remove some threads. What is your experience, where have you taken the data set entry from?

RE: editing hole standard files

Could you clarify what you mean by "where have you taken the data set entry from?"?

RE: editing hole standard files

I simply point these 3 variables to a folder ...

UGII_THREADED_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR
UGII_DRILL_SIZE_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR UGII_SCREW_CLEARANCE_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR

... copy in the 3 XML files and modify them accordingly.

RE: editing hole standard files

I believe most of the data in those files is from Machinery's Handbook.
The tap drill sizes and such may be closest to a standard 70% thread diameter calculation. I know I have modified the tables per the shop standard tap drill sizes in older versions.

I'm looking for the database where these file are based on.
I have to add M8x0.75,M9x1,M10x1,M12x1.5,M14x1.5,M16x1.5
wwant to remove most of the inch based entries.
Are there problems with threaded hole features when designs shared with this settings to other companies editing the threaded hole feature or even update?

RE: editing hole standard files

The holes are based on standard practices as defined in such reference sources as the Machinerys Handbook and other international standards.  I don't have a list of the actual titles of the documents refernced.

As for the idea of someone editing holes credited in your system if you have made changes to your datafiles, it has no effect whatsoever since the Hole features do not reference the external data files once the Hole feature has been created.  Granted, if you had added an additional entry in your version of the database file and someone else opened your part file, while they would have no problem editing your unique hole, they would NOT be able to create a new one like that since their database file does not contain the information needed to create a new hole, but that will not interfere with Hole features which already exist.
