Issue with change in results in NX NASTRAN

Issue with change in results in NX NASTRAN

(OP)
Hi

I am using FEMAPv9.3 with NX NASTRAN to carry out an analysis, and want to interrogate the model for Grid Point Force Balance results yet have hit quite a bizarre issue.

My intial analysis was carried out and the output results destination set to 3.Print and PostProcess in the Nastran Output Requests Menu (I was intially trying to solve another problem by reading the results file manually).

Due to a quirk in FEMAP/NX NASTRAN that I am aware of, I realised that the GFB would not be displayed unless I set the Results Destination to 2.PostProcess Only, so reanalysed the model, changing nothing else and saving the previous run.

However when doing this, I then get different outputs for stresses on the same elements for the 2 outputs, when they should be the same (all I am changing is the results destination option!).  Interestingly the deflections are identical as would be expected

Does or has anyone experienced this or know why this is happening i.e. is it a bug in the software?

Thanks

RE: Issue with change in results in NX NASTRAN

I have found that setting results desitination to 'Print' produces a results file in .f06 format, where as 'PostProcess' produces a results file in .op2 which is required for GFB (NX NASTRAN User Guide states that grid point force data is not in the .f06 file)

If 'Print and PostProcess' is chosen then FEMAP imports the .f06 first, and will not import the .op2 unless there are no results in the .f06.

Should there be a difference in the results shown for stresses in the .f06 and the .op2?
