Screw Head Terminology

(OP)
Working on a cold heading problem with fillister head phillips type screws. I need the correct terminology for that part of the phillips recess right at the head periphery,as that is where the problem is.

RE: Screw Head Terminology

Wall thickness? Web? Annular vertex ligament? or use a sketch.  (Industrial or mechanical forums might have better ideas.)

RE: Screw Head Terminology

I just checked ISO 4757 Cross recesses for screws, as well as some ASME/IFI documents, and none of them precisely defines the cross recess features, and they only mention (but does not define) the term "recess wings".  Perhaps Phillips has a QA document based on their original patents that more precisely defines the various features, but I did not find one freely available from their website.  I would refer to it as the portion of the recess wing that terminates at the head periphery, possibly with a sketch or photo.

Apex?

I decided to call it " recess tip at the periphery". This at least reduced the verbage multiples I would have to drag through the report. Thanks to all, case closed.
