600V Window CTs for Current Sensing of 2400V motor

600V Window CTs for Current Sensing of 2400V motor

(OP)
To install a local Ammeter 0-300A near the 2.4KV motor I am debating to install a 600V insulation window type CT in motor terminal box passing the phase conductor 2.4KV insulated cable through the CT window. Could this cause flash over in the motor terminal box?

Thanks for your advise.

RE: 600V Window CTs for Current Sensing of 2400V motor

Unless things get scraped, cracked, broken or otherwise disrupted, no.

The "600 volt" rating refers to the insulation of the CT itself.  You're running a cable with rated insulation through it.  Not a problem.

These CT's are commonly applied in many places in industrial power systems with insulated cables of low and medium voltages.

Keep away from live terminals..and firmly secured in place.
