Determining Grout Thickness Under A Machine Base Plate Plate

Determining Grout Thickness Under A Machine Base Plate Plate

(OP)
I'm designing a foundation for a wind turbine. The manufacturers specifications require me to calculate and specify the grout thickness required under the tower's base plate. Does anyone know of a reference that explains how to do this?

RE: Determining Grout Thickness Under A Machine Base Plate Plate

You need enough room between the base plates and concrete foundation to accurately level the base plates and allow the grout to flow. Grout manufactures talk about this in their information manuals. Here is one, a link the the Five-Star Grout Handbook. They suggest 2 inches typical clearance (see page number 29)
