Steam Turbine startup
Steam Turbine startup
(OP)
Hi,
In our solar power plant where we have a 50MW ST we need minimum 30ºC superheat in HP an 50ºC in LP.
Our current startup procedure is as follows.
* Sun comes up
* Start up SG
* open HP bypass manually 5%
* LP remains closed
* LP vent open
We then wait for conditions for around 90 minutes. I think is being done incorrectly and it takes far too long.
I believe we should use the HP bypass and LP bypass to flow steam and not the vent.
Any ideas?

RE: Steam Turbine startup
I really never paid that much attention to the steam generator during turbine roll, but I though blowing steam was to purge super heater of overnight scale and to add water to improve chemistry.
another consederation with units with bypass capibility is the condensors capicity to remove energy from primary steam dumping. maybe condensor can not handle the load
