Hi,

Is there also a possibility of a flow induced pulsation on  liquid lines past a dead leg branches along a pipeline sytem?
This seems only applicable for gas lines. Can anyone  shed light on this matter?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Flow induced pulsation past a dead leg branches for liquid lines.

Yes, it's possible.  The dead leg acts as a 1/4-wave tube.  Nat. frequency of the dead leg is reduced a bunch if there is trapped air in it.

branch connections do create a flow disturbance down stream, even if the branch is non-flowing. resonance problems occur if the turbulence created by the branch coinsid with an accoustic resonance condition

Yes, it's generally more common in gas systems, but it's also possible in liquid systems.  Search the interwebz for Strouhal number or vortex shedding to figure out how to figure the vortex shedding frequency, and you can also calculate the branch connection stub acoustic natural frequency.
