Removing a pipe nipple from a flange..
Removing a pipe nipple from a flange..
(OP)
This is just a technique question.
I've got a threaded flange that someone put a 1.5" short nipple on it. The kind that's all threads.
Is there a good way to remove that without damaging the threads?
If I didn't care to preserve the nipple, I would just put a pipe wrench on it and take it out...but it's a rental unit and I don't want to break their stuff.
Appreciate the help.

RE: Removing a pipe nipple from a flange..
Alternatively, there are i.d. wrenches for pipe that can be purchased. These can screw up the i.d. flow surface, however.
You get to choose which side you want buggered up the least.
Google "inside pipe wrench".

How about thread a bushing on, vice grip from ID of pipe to OD on a flat of the bushing
Plan B: Pipe wrench it out and find a replacement nipple
