Section line lenght in NX 6

(OP)
thread561-263003: NX6 Section Line

I have started using NX 6 at work and it is my first acquaintance with this 3D program.

What am I missing when I want to do a section view in drawing? The first choise you make is wich view to be the target one. Then default (I supose due to how it always gets) is that the line cut through All of it!
I just need the line to go through a specific detail within view, maybe just a forth of the lenght. And that would also give a less space demanding new view to place.

Thanx

RE: Section line lenght in NX 6

What I tend to do in your situation is put down the cutting plane line as it first comes up, then I go back and edit it to what I want it to be.
To edit it, rmc (right mouse click) on the cutting plane (section) line -> edit.

RE: Section line lenght in NX 6

Or in in section view menu, use the Add Segment button, after selecting the view and the first point it will appear as the third button.
If this still isn't sufficient you can play with the boundary of the sectioned view. Right click on the sectioned view, choose boundary, then change "Automatic Rectangle" to "Manual Rectangle". Can adapt to desired dimensions.

Best regards,

Michäël.
