How do I copy or move a sketch made in drawing mode to model
How do I copy or move a sketch made in drawing mode to model
(OP)
How do I copy or move a sketch made in drawing mode to model mode?
I am trying to trace over an image of a jpeg builing layout so I can use it to layout equipment and services in modeling mode.
Thanks

RE: How do I copy or move a sketch made in drawing mode to model
File -> Export -> Part...
...and select the curves of the Sketch and 'Export' them to a Part file, either the existing file you're working on, or some other file, and the curves will come in as simple curves, but not as part of a sketch, but you could then create a Modeling sketch and add these curves to the new sketch and assign constraints/dimensions as needed.
Now starting in NX 7.5 you can at least select and Copy the curves of a Sketch created in a Drawing and then Paste those curves into the model. However, like above with the exported curves, they will no longer be Sketch curves, but as noted above, they could be added to a Sketch and then have constraints/dimensions reapplied to the curves.
Now if you're working in NX 7.5 and you really do want to retain all the sketch constraints/dimensions, you do have the option of export that Drafting sketch out to the Reuse Library where you can then copy it from there into modeling and in that case the sketch will come in as a sketch with everything intact.
But that being said, I have to ask (even though I think I know the answer) why didn't you just import your image directly into modeling using...
View -> Visualization -> Raster Image...
...since once the image has been added to the model, as a bounded-plane with the image attached to it, you could have then used the surface as your sketch plane, thus assuring that the sketch will always be linked to the image and then sketch over the image there?
Of course, this DOES require a Studio license, but it is the OFFICIAL recommended approach for this sort of workflow.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately we do not have a Studio license. We are however, in the process of upgrading to 7.5. I'm looking forward to using 7.5. I'm also look forward to seeing you in Rochester, NY Oct 26th at the Regional Users Group.
I am using 6.0.2.8 on Dell with windows XP OS

And I see you took my advice
And it would be helpful if more people did as well.
