Maybe they are saying the motor is rated for 150 watts steady state, but is capable of 250%*150watts for short-term overload.

...or maybe it is just marketing speak with no basis in reality.

It is in comparison to "Sherline models costing 30% more".This is a common problem with marketing literature that gets too "busy".

The Sherline machine they are probably comparing to has a 60W motor. 60 x 250% = 150w.

Yes, Micromark confirm that it is with reference to a Sherline item.

Nevertheless, what a confusing thing to say.  I bet the author was a great disappointment to his English teacher.
