Allowable leak as per ACI350 and AWWA

Allowable leak as per ACI350 and AWWA

Allowable leak as per ACI350 and AWWA

(OP)
Hi All,

One engineer specified allowable leak for  Water storage Tank as per AWWA 1/20 of 1% of storage capacity. Other engineer on other project, located 100km, specified allowable leakage 1/10 of 1% storage capacity. Capacities are 700 and 3100 cumt respectively.
Does allowable leakage criteria's varies per capacity of tank, type of tank, purpose of tank, location, and local codes? Location – Canada

Thanks for your time,

Rakesh

RE: Allowable leak as per ACI350 and AWWA

Per AWWA, the allowable leakage rate is 0.1 percent of the water volume in 24 hour.

You can always specify higher requirements than the minimum standards.
