NX6 License keeps getting help up somewhere?
NX6 License keeps getting help up somewhere?
(OP)
First off - Im using UG NX v6.5.3 with LMTools v11.4.100.0
I have 4 licenses that are shared in a domain with 5 computers that run UG at different times of the day.
Normally there are no more then 3 people running UG at the same time. I purchased a laptop to take to meetings for visual aid and whenever I give it a license, one of the other computers will throw a license request error.
Again, There are 4 license total. In this scenario 3 computers are running UG when I sign out a license for the laptop, one of the other client computers will throw the error as soon as they do something that require license check. (Switch to Drafting or Shape Sudio .etc)
1) Is it possible that the license that was used by one of the other computers on 3rd shift still has one locked in even if UG is not running on that computer?
2) I have talked with UG support and they sent me a "blank" license to enable on said computer to essentially "push" the stuck license back to the LMserver but this only works 50% of the time.
*Is there a switch that I can enable via .bat file or .vbs script that I can run on the client computers to flush the license out and allow the LMserver to see and share it again?
The button to release a license within LMTOOLS seems to be insufficient. Even if the LMTOOLS switch is actually releasing the license there seems to be an issue refreshing that status either at the client or server end..?
**ANY help on this would be great! Are there any coders out there that can tell me where the license status is cached on the local machines?
Has anyone had an issue like this?

Check the license log file on the server.
In most cases its easier to stop and restart the license service on the server.

Yes, its one license bundle for all clients. The log file isn't indicating anything out of the norm. Restarting the service works, but since the license server is on a locked system during 3rd shift, designers will still be stuck. I'd create a simple .bat file to stop/start the service for those computers, but im not sure if you can stop/start services on a locked networked system remotely.
MickyV007-
All clients DO borrow licenses, and I DO check out a single license for the laptop. The issue is that somewhere along the lines a license is getting stuck and not being returned to the license server after it is borrowed and returned.

Right click on My Computer - Properties - Advanced - Enviromental Variables - ...
There should be something like this UGII_LICENSE_FILE 2700@servername;2700@servername;...

RE: NX6 License keeps getting help up somewhere?
The problem is that there are 5 workstations total. (3 operate during the day, and the other 2 are at night) Never at the same time.
There are only 4 licenses total. So at 7A.M. 3 designers borrow 3 licenses and then at 3 P.M. the exit UG and release the borrowed licenses. At 3:30P.M 2 designers borrow 2 licenses and then release them at the end of their day.
If on the next day after 3 licenses are borrowed again and I try to check out a license to my laptop, the laptop will be granted a license successfully - but then one of the designers will get a license error almost immediately.
*I then check to make sure that the computers that run UG and borrow licenses on night shift do not have UG open or have licenses checked out.
So the conclusion must be that either the license server is failing to acknowledge the release of a license, or that one of the workstations is not really releasing it even though it states that it has.
