influence of supports on spherical vessels

influence of supports on spherical vessels

influence of supports on spherical vessels

(OP)

During the hydrostatic test is necessary check the supports of the sphere as the stresses imposed by the self weight of the vessel and the weight of water, in accordance with Annex G PD 5500.
I am speaking correctly?
Does anyone have any practical example of how to calculate the maximum allowable tension?
Or help me with these calculations?

 respects

thanks in advice

RE: influence of supports on spherical vessels

The design of this sphere was done on a software supporting hopefully the PD 5500. The design calculations have included the hydrotest loads on supports, you only need to check those calculations.
If you don't have access to the design calculations and you have to check the loads and stresses on the supports using the Annex G, then you're in trouble. You have to use pressure vessel design software supporting the Annex G, like PV Elite and CodeCalc and you need working knowledge of the PD 5500 and also the software.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel (hope is not the incoming train!). All you need is some money and your computer to google for your local friendly pressure vessel designer who's running a registered PE bussines, to do those calculations for you. Once you got those calculations signed by the PE, you run to your AI and ask him to certify the calculation, put your margin in top of the expenses and mail the certified calculations and your invoice to your client. Simple. Practical.
