How to apply shear stresses restraint

How to apply shear stresses restraint

How to apply shear stresses restraint

(OP)
Hi all,

I have a problem on how to set the boundary conditions in Abaqus by restraining the shear stresses, i.e. how to set τxy and τyz = 0. Please let me know on how to solve this problem.

Many thanks for any feedback.

RE: How to apply shear stresses restraint

This is not a "boundary condition" that one could "restrain". Boundary conditions are generally associated with displacements or its derivatives. Shear stress (along with force) is a load or resultant load ie a compound of the result of the boundary condition and the imposed load. Initial conditions can be set in this manner, but you would have to consider a user-defined field for that.

RE: How to apply shear stresses restraint

There's generally no shear on symmetry boundary conditions: helmi30 please elaborate on why you need to set up that BC.
