C factor of louvre

C factor of louvre

C factor of louvre

(OP)
where can I find the C-factors of louvres, T-type in particular. I am checking whether a plantroom would be suffeciently ventilated

RE: C factor of louvre

What cfm are you exhausting the plantroom?  Plug the cfm into Q=VA (Q=cfm) (V=velocity, should be <=500 feet per minute so you don't get rain entrapment.  Most louvers are 50% free area, so double the A to get the approximate louver size.  What does the C factor tell you?

knowledge is power

RE: C factor of louvre

Try this handy pseudo-executable before you post:

10 REM Old-School Pseudo-code for all problems of this type.
20 REM
30 DIM X$ AS STRING
40 INPUT "Is the information you need related to the specific performance of a manufactured product (Y/N)?", X$
50 IF X$ = "Y" THEN PRINT "Eng-Tips Answer - Go ask the manufacturer for performance information relating to this specific product of theirs.  Have a Nice Day :)"
60 IF X$ = "N" THEN PRINT "OK, We are listening..."
70 OPEN "www.eng-tips.com"
80 END

I admit that I had trouble with line 70, as the internet did not exist in it's current form when I last used a Commodore 64.  Otherwise, I hope this helps.

my supplier can't supply the coefesient
where can I find typical c-factors of louvres?

RE: C factor of louvre

Can you supplier tell you the pressure drop at a specific flow rate/velocity?  If so you can calculate the factor.

If he can't then find a similar louvre from another supplier and assume they are have a similar factor, thought the risks with assumptions.

RE: C factor of louvre

@ KiwiMace, OMG that is funny!! scary due to the memories that came rushing back from those days of fortran and the like....still very funny. The guys here in the office now think Im nuts, laughing to myself, Thanks!

Louver losses/performace: I say measure it up, sketch the profile and go looking on the web for a similar product. Check Westvent, Aerovent, Greenheck was allready suggested. You will likely find the exact profile you have in which case the performance numbers will be identical to your louver.
