New OS VS Old GPU

New OS VS Old GPU

New OS VS Old GPU

(OP)
After a lot of struggle, I finally found the source of my problems with system/SW instabilities and crashes. I have an old Quadro FX3400 and for those who also have such an old GPU, here is an advice: Keep the OS "age" date close to the GPU "age". Drivers for Windows7 that are supposed to work with old Quadro cards obviously don't work as expected. Going back to Windows XP (x64) cured all the problems. I guess that is why in Siemens they always wait for the first SP for the latest Windows release. The driver on the SW site is also somewhat limited, doesn't really support 1920x1080 screen resolution. Version 197.45 works just right (for Windows XP x64), the latest release 258.49 is "overdoing it" and shuts down the monitor. Not funny at all.
