Boiler drums neoprene gasket cracking

Boiler drums neoprene gasket cracking

Boiler drums neoprene gasket cracking

(OP)
We have a Cleaver-Brooks FLX 700 steam boiler. Operating at 95psi. During our last inspection we found the neoprene gaskets from both steam and mud drum access ports to be severely cracked, dry and brittle.  The cracks are evident on the contact surfaces.

Any thoughts on the matter would be helpful.
My appreciation and thanks.

RE: Boiler drums neoprene gasket cracking

You are at at a too high a temperature for the neoprene gasket material.
i would look at wire reinforced Grafoil if you have enough bolt to carry the load.

Can you give a better description of your problem flanges?
