Voltage econimics in selection of Substation Voltage

Voltage econimics in selection of Substation Voltage

Voltage econimics in selection of Substation Voltage

I know one formula

Economic Voltage = 5.5 Sqrt{L/1.6 + KVA/150}

Where L = Length of Transmission Line
KVA is Power to be transferred

Is anybody aware of the standard/ code from where this taken?

Are there other methods also to check the voltage economics?

What are the units for Length?  km?  mi?

Length is in KM

Estimate the construction and operating costs of different voltage lines.  Pick the voltage that results in lowest life cycle cost.

The T&D green book has a great discussion of this topic in chapters 11 and 12.

That formula suggests much higher voltages than we use, though our voltages are based on history rather than current economic analysis.
