Dimension Palette...AARGH!

Dimension Palette...AARGH!

Dimension Palette...AARGH!

(OP)
As of SP 3.0, the Dimension Palette functionality is supposed to be as follows:

"When you select one or more dimensions, the Dimension Palette rollover button appears to the upper right of the pointer. If you move the pointer over the button, the Dimension Palette appears. Click anywhere in the palette to pin it. The Dimension Palette disappears if you move the pointer beyond the graphics area or clear the dimension selection by another means, such as clicking in the graphics area. To specify whether to display the Dimension Palette, click Tools > Customize. On the Toolbars tab, under Context toolbar settings, select or clear Show on selection."

Except it has never worked for me...and still does not.  When I left mouse click a dimension, the rollover button appears a few inches down and to the right....but as I mouse over to it...it DISAPPEARS!  WTF?  It is like a teaser.  No matter what...I can never get the Dim Palette to actually appear.  The rollover button is always just out of reach...and as soon as I get the pointer near it...it vanishes.  What an idiotic bug.  Anyone else have this issue?

RE: Dimension Palette...AARGH!

It must be a setting - maybe Tools/Options - I don't have that problem.

SW 2010 SP 3.1 -  the .1 may make all the difference - I don't know.

RE: Dimension Palette...AARGH!

No issues here either.

I had that issue at one point. Restarting the machine fixed it. Recommend you run a repair on the install if restarting doesn't solve the problem.

Talked to the tech people with my VAR.  They are generally very good...and they are totally perplexed.  We did an online session where he could see my machine....and he could not believe what it was doing.  He tried all the normal stuff, and confirmed it was not any user settings...or my video card.  It is the software.  He has a request into Solid Works directly now....

RE: Dimension Palette...AARGH!

Try decreasing the screen DPI setting.

CorBlimeyLimey,

You are good.  I just got the same word back from my VAR.  This bug is to be fixed in SW2011....
