Kwena anti theft earth cable

anyone have any information on these cables, like for instance data sheets

RE: Kwena anti theft earth cable

Your Google-fu is weak Grasshopper... winky smile

"Kwena 'anti-theft' earthing strap was developed and patented by Walro Flex, a division of Pomodzi Industrials. Kwena is manufactured under license and distributed by Flexicor Cables." (http://www.flexicor.co.za/new_page_1.htm)

Contact Flexicor via:
http://www.flexicor.co.za/feedback.htm

They've listed some e-mail contacts, so it should be simple and easy to get some brochure and/or spec info.

Good luck.

Using "loquacious" before 8 AM.

RE: Kwena anti theft earth cable

Good Word-of-the-Day, loquacious. Too many letters for a big Scrabble score though.

I was unaware of these cables. Interesting concept. I just had a client get his entire production plant stripped of everything copper; wires, switchgear bus, even smaller transformers (the plant was shuttered awaiting a move). They must have pulled in with a big truck to haul it all away. They are very interested in copper theft deterrence now.

But I'm a little disappointed in their marketing it as "anti" theft, because it actually does nothing to stop a thief from removing them, it just makes it pointless because they can't get paid for them. But that ASSUMES the thief is intelligent enough to pay attention and recognize the sublet differences on appearance in the dark of night. At first glance I was thinking they embedded high strength wire inside to make it difficult to cut with simple tools like cable cutters.

hey just a word of thanks, got this data sheet off flexicor, we were told there was only one supplier and it wasnt flexicor.

i think the way to go is plain kwena cable, i realise the chances of a thief making a correct assumption at late night is unlikely but bare copper earth wire is a serious problem of theft in south africa.

RE: Kwena anti theft earth cable

Hi SAkieran

I am also in SA. Yeah cable theft is a big big problem here.

However, I don't quite think these kwena cables are going to help.

The thieves have been known to die trying to steal high voltage power lines, so it gives you an idea of how far they will go, even when there is a direct threat of injury or death.

Anyways, best of luck!
