Rewelding of AISI 4130

Rewelding of AISI 4130

(OP)
Does anyone know of any code restrictions to the number of times AISI 4130 (API Materials 60Ksi YS/90Ksi UTS - NACE) can be welded and stress relieved?

Some of our customers have components re-welded as many as 4-5 times, using their normal Weld/Stress Relieve procedure.  Most of the components are in a high pressure- 7500 psi rated- pipe system.

Thanks,
Rick

What exactly is the piping system above being used for in service????

What kind of weld procedure was used?

How was it qualified?

Was the welding procedure qualified with PWHT and estimated cycle times for repair/PWHT as you describe?

Was nindestructive testing used to verify the integrity of the weld repair(s)?

Sorry for the typo

nindestructive testing

should be nondestructive testing (NDT).
