DnV-RP-F109 Sec. 3.4: what is the meaning of SEED?

RE: DNV-RP-F109 : Meaning of SEED?

I want to say "seed" is a random number. May be wrong. Might want to ask DNV.

Furthermore, in ORCAFLEX to define wave type JONSWAP, there is an option named SEED. What does SEED mean in either DNV-RP-F109 or ORCAFLEX?

RE: DNV-RP-F109 : Meaning of SEED?

Hi,
The Jonswap SEED in Orcaflex is used to define the pseudorandom irregular wave.

This means that although an irregular simulation is 'random', it can be repeated - e.g. the seed 12345 will always give exactly the same wave train.

The meaning is the same in RP-F109.

Hope this helps
